Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Doctors
MOHH employs PGY1 doctors to ensure that they are equipped with the necessary clinical competencies for future independent practice. During this PGY1 year, medical graduates will gain the necessary clinical experience and skills to assume increasing responsibilities for patient care. PGY1s are required to satisfactorily complete 12 months of training with at least 4 months in General Medicine and 4 months in either General Surgery or Orthopaedic Surgery postings.
Fresh medical graduates who wish to apply for a PGY1 position must satisfy either of the following conditions:
- Possess a MBBS degree from one of the medical schools in the First Schedule of the Medical Registration Act (MRA)
OR
- Possess a basic medical degree awarded by an overseas medical school listed in the Second Schedule of the MRA.
- Must be granted a Work Pass to work in Singapore (applicable to non-Singaporean/non-Singapore PR).
Medical Officer
MOHH employs Medical Officers (MOs) who are qualified doctors who are immediately responsible for the total management of patients in the wards. They are required to mentor House Officers and help with the clerking of cases and performing of procedures.
MOs undergo 6-month rotations (changeover dates for postings are in January and July each year) through a Medical Officer Posting Exercise (MOPEX) where MOs may choose postings which suit their developmental needs and career interest.
To be eligible for the MO position, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Must possess a MBBS degree from one of the medical schools in the First Schedule of the Medical Registration Act (MRA) OR a basic medical degree awarded by one of the Universities/Medical Schools listed in the Second Schedule of the MRA; and
- Must have completed houseman training satisfactorily; and
- Must be granted medical registration by the Singapore Medical Council (SMC); and
- Must be granted a Work Pass to work in Singapore (only applicable to non-Singaporean/non-Singapore PR)

Hospital Clinician
The Hospital Clinicians (HC) scheme was developed as a career track for doctors interested in broad-based practice in a hospital-setting.
HCs deliver broad-based inpatient medical care and anchor medical care in the acute to subacute inpatient ward setting, with broad-based medical competencies, complementary to the role of specialists.
To be eligible for the HC scheme, applicants must meet the prevailing entry criteria. Please refer to the respective hospital website for more information on the HC scheme.
Associate Consultant/Consultant
Associate Consultant and Consultants are Specialists who have completed specialist training. They are responsible for patient care and leadership to all staff levels, including teaching and training.
To be eligible for Associate Consultant/Consultant position, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Must be accredited as a Specialist by the Specialist Accreditation Board (SAB), Ministry of Health
- Must be granted medical registration by the Singapore Medical Council (SMC)
- Must be granted an Employment Pass to work in Singapore (applicable to non-Singaporean/non-Singapore PR)
- Must possess the relevant years of experience
